CSK Finds Winning Rhythm Again After Two Years

CSK vs KKR, IPL 2026: CSK pulls off consecutive victories for the first time in two years.

Chennai Super Kings have finally put together consecutive wins for the first time in two years, climbing off the bottom of the points table and moving into the middle of the standings. Even after losing the toss and dealing with heavy dew, they outplayed a Kolkata Knight        Riders side that is still yet to register a win this season.

Sanju Samson, Dewald Brevis, and Ayush Mhatre guided CSK to an impressive 192 on a surface where batting became tricky once the powerplay ended. In the chase, Anshul Kamboj and Khaleel Ahmed made an early impact by removing key players like Finn Allen and Sunil Narine within the powerplay. While KKR struggled to reach 36 runs in that phase, CSK had already put up twice as many.

After that, CSK’s spinners tightened their grip on the game, giving away just 47 runs in eight overs and claiming four wickets, leaving KKR with no real chance of recovery.
KKR, now facing the threat of an early exit, did benefit from Varun Chakravarthy’s return in the bowling department. However, their batting still fell short of modern T20 expectations, even with Narine being pushed up the order to open.

Sunil Narine slowed things down during the middle overs, as Samson chose to play it safe rather than take unnecessary risks. Varun made a tidy start, conceding just one boundary in his first two overs. However, the biggest surprise came from Kartik Tyagi, whose raw pace made an immediate impact. He not only bowled Samson just short of his half-century but may have also delayed Shivam Dube’s arrival—someone who could have accelerated the scoring against spin.

Narine, Anukul Roy, and Varun kept things tight and didn’t allow the batters to break free. As a result, only 70 runs were added in the nine overs following the powerplay, keeping the scoring rate firmly in check.
We’ll leave you with a brief teaser of our final report, and we hope you’ll join us again at the same time tomorrow.
