“India and Iran Work Together to Keep Hormuz Route Safe”

Iran says it is in contact with India regarding the Hormuz route: “Our destinies are closely connected.

Iran has said that it is in “good contact” with the Indian government to ensure the safe passage of Indian ships through the Strait of Hormuz, even as shipping in the region continues to face disruptions due to rising tensions.

Speaking on Monday, Iran’s Ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathli, said that Tehran is working closely with New Delhi to facilitate maritime movement and provide support during the ongoing crisis.

The conflict between the United States and Israel that began earlier this year has already impacted traffic along this crucial route, which accounts for about 40% of India’s crude oil imports. This has led to supply disruptions and affected trade flows.

Fathli reiterated that India and Iran share “common interests and a shared future” in the region, emphasizing the importance of coordination during this period of uncertainty. He added, “We are prepared for both peace and war, but we prefer peace,” clearly expressing Iran’s stance amid the ongoing tensions.

The ambassador thanked India and its people for their support. He said, “I would like to thank all the people of India—they have truly been reliable and compassionate partners during difficult times,” acknowledging New Delhi’s role in helping facilitate arrangements.

Speaking about the recent talks in Islamabad, Fathli said the discussions focused on nuclear issues, war compensation, and relief from sanctions. While expressing readiness for dialogue, he also pointed to certain demands raised during the talks that he described as “unlawful.”

He criticized the United States and Israel, alleging that attacks were carried out despite ongoing negotiations, and said that Iran has not forgotten past violations.
Amid concerns over a possible naval blockade, Fathli emphasized continued cooperation with India. He said, “We have good relations with the Indian government; we want proper arrangements for Indian ships,” and assured that efforts are being made to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
